shabbatExperience the Joy of Shabbat at services alive with spirited songs and soulful melodies. Join Rabbi Axe and the Shir Ami Family two Friday nights each month and Shabbat mornings when there is a B/Mitzvah to celebrate Shabbat with full participation in the readings and music by all members of the congregation. Enjoy the musical accompaniment of piano with the occasional addition of percussion and other instruments. shabbat

 


Unless otherwise noted, Shabbat and Holiday Services are held in the beautiful and newly renovated First Presbyterian Church, One West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, CT. The style of worship at Shir Ami is in keeping with mainstream Reform practice. Several times throughout the year we have a PowerPoint service with all prayers and readings in Hebrew and English projected on a large screen. We have even projected the Torah readings for everyone to follow. On the Shabbat closest to the festivals and holidays throughout the calendar year, special attention is given to the themes and music in observance of each holiday.

 

All are welcome at Shabbat services, as well at all Shir Ami events.

Host an Oneg at Congregation Shir Ami

After each Shabbat service we enjoy kiddush together at our oneg, sponsored by a Shir Ami family. The host family is asked to arrive at 7:00 for set up, and provide Challah and wine, whatever food and beverage selections they would like, along with paper goods, serving dishes and utensils.  Food and beverage selections may include a fruit platter, cheese and crackers, cookies, brownies, cake, cold beverages, and/or whatever the sponsor chooses to bring.  Coffee, decaf, and tea along with hot cups and condiments are provided. For most services, food for 15-20 people is sufficient.  The host family is asked to stay to clean up, and bring home leftover food and beverages.
