Social Action Team
Goals
- To
create and implement a meaningful program for social action and community
service, that will personally touch members of Congregation Shir Ami while
positively impacting the community.
- To
create a vision of “giving and serving” that will become a defining aspect
of our congregational identity.
Objective: To select social issues that Congregation Shir Ami will
adopt as a congregational priority in order to fulfill the Biblical mandate to
be a light to the nations, making the world a better place for all people.
Process: The Social Action Team 2007-2008,
chaired by Lori Allee and Peg Sturman, will
· identify
issues to be adopted by Congregation Shir Ami for monthly collections that will
engage the entire congregation in a meaningful and thoughtful way and impact
various underserved populations,
· continue
providing volunteers for monthly service to Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry
and Thrift Shop
· monitor local,
national and world events to see where our contribution can be most valuable,
· recommend
additional appropriate and worthwhile social action projects,
· welcome
suggestions from all members of Congregation Shir Ami.
